Carmageddon Day 1: What L.A. looks like without cars

(Image from Vimeo/Ross Ching)
Ever wonder what Los Angeles would look like without all the honking, swerving, air-polluting vehicles swarming its freeways?

Thanks to Carmageddon, an Interstate 405 closure that’s causing some Angelenos to hunker down or flee for the weekend, you can now see what that looks like.

Videographer Ross Ching uses time-lapse photography to show us Los Angeles, a city that’s part of the most populous metropolitan area in the world, without inhabitants or cars:

Running on Empty (Revisited) from Ross Ching on Vimeo.

Ching says he was inspired by photographer Matt Logue’s Empty L.A. project. Check it out here.
