Dogs who know how to hang ten gathered in Del Mar, Calif. over the weekend to ride the waves, raise some money and entertain humans everywhere.
About 80 pooches competed in the sixth annual Surf Dog Surf-A-Thon, a press release said. For the fifth year in a row, Buddy the Jack Russell Terrier was named “top dog.” He won a trophy, a year’s supply of food from Eukanuba, which sponsored the event, and the honor of being the first ever hall of fame inductee.
His owner Bruce said this may be the champ’s last year.
The competition raised more than $100,000 for the no-kill Helen Woodward Animal Center. It will also, we hope, raise the spirits of anyone suffering from a case of the Mondays.
Meanwhile, another group of dogs gathered in Huntington Beach for the Surf City Surf Dog event. Check out video from the Del Mar event and pictures from the other below.

It seems this pup could have benefited from a swim cap.
“But I don’t wanna ride the wave!”
Between the sand and the hat, I am ready to declare this the world’s most patient dog.
I bet this dog likes it better on the board.
Three surf dogs for the price of one.
