Fleet Week kicks off Wednesday with a parade of military vessels sailing up the Hudson River in New York.

The Parade of Ships, carrying Navy, Army and Air Force members, opened the 24th annual event, and coincided with a military jet flyover. The ships then docked on Manhattan's West Side and Staten Island.

During the six-day event, the public can enjoy ship tours and performances and activities aboard the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum.
