Rep. Michele Bachmann’s stance on homosexuality is taking up more time than she would like in the coverage of her campaign for the GOP presidential nomination. Past interviews have surfaced in which the Minnesota Republican compares homosexuality to slavery and Satan; she refused to comment on them. Meanwhile, her popularity has surged in Iowa, where the conservative evangelical vote is extremely influential in Republican caucuses.
Even more than her stance on the subject, though, her husband Marcus Bachmann’s beliefs about homosexuality have been a major topic of national conversation, especially after a video filmed inside his clinic earlier this week revealed practices some refer to as “pray the gay away.”
