IRAN TO FREE PRISONERS: The president of Iran told the Washington Post that he is working to release two U.S. hikers who have been imprisoned for two years. Iran accused Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal of espionage, but will grant them a “unilateral pardon.”

GOP DEBATE: Mitt Romney came out on top in the second GOP presidential debate, according to the Fix, after going on the attack, criticizing Rick Perry’s Social Security plans.
