Miss USA contestants weigh in on evolution (Video)

Beauty queens need to be good at two things: wearing a bikini in front of people and answering questions.

The 51 hopefuls from this year’s Miss USA Pageant, held in Las Vegas on Sunday, got to show off the skill that doesn’t require a bare midriff. The ladies were asked a number of questions, including probing queries about nude photo shoots and online dating. But perhaps the most interesting question the delegates were asked was, “Should evolution be taught in schools?”

The winner of Sunday’s competition, Miss California Alyssa Campanella, answered in the affirmative (because she’s a “science geek”) while runner-up Miss Tennessee Ashley Durham took the more popular position: Teach it and creationism.
