Movie trailer proposal is best thing since ‘Titanic’ (Video)

Screengrab from YouTube video “Greatest Marriage Proposal EVER!!!”
When Matt Still wanted to ask his girlfriend Ginny Joiner to marry him, he didn’t just buy some ring and get down on one knee. No, that would be far too simple. Instead, he proposed through a fake movie trailer that is far more compelling than most of the rom-coms I’ve seen in the past year.

Still arranged for Joiner to be taken to see “Fast Five,” a very romantic film choice. After a preview for “The Hangover 2” was played, a trailer, showing Still getting her father’s permission and then zipping off in a car to the movie theater, came on. Joiner’s reactions were recorded for the world to enjoy.

Now I could be cynical and ask why the video needed to be posted to YouTube — where it has received over 6.4 million views — or point to the couple’s very professional looking Web site promoting the proposal. But I’d rather just enjoy the romance.

While this may be the “Greatest Marriage Proposal Ever!!!” as the title claims, the recent engagement through crossword puzzle that ran in the Sunday’s Washington Post Style Section was pretty unusual, if not a little old school, as well.
