A levee protecting the flooded Missouri town of Poplar Bluff was breached Tuesday. Water from the Black River had flowed over the levee in several spots Monday, forcing 1,000 homes to be evacuated, the Associated Press reports. More evacuations are planned for Tuesday. Missouri has seen more than a foot of rainfall over the past few days, causing rivers to crest to flood level.
In Arkansas, at least four people were killed after a tornado hit Vilonia, bringing the death count to at least nine as severe weather continues to hit the state.
