A new video uploaded to YouTube appears to show a troubling scene from Syria. The video begins with shots and screaming heard in the background and then pans to a man in military dress, who kneels and aims his gun at a boy holding a stone. The boy runs away.
The video cannot be independently verified by The Washington Post. It was uploaded by YouTube user “Syrian Revolution 2011,” who consistently posts videos activists have taken from within the country.
The video was purportedly taken in Deraa, a city in southwestern Syria where clashes between anti-government protesters and security forces are ongoing. Deraa is also one of three cities being visited by Arab League monitors Thursday, the BBC reports. Some 40 people were killed by security forces on Thursday, according to activists quoted by the BBC.
