Trump tracking: The imaginary Twitter travels of the Donald

Donald Trump has been all over the news of late. Taking credit for Obama’s birth certificate release. Questioning Obama’s education. Disputing Obama’s foreign policy. So, over on our Politics page, our Web editors came up with a handy hashtag for readers to report on what Donald Trump was up to as he traveled around New Hampshire today. Anyone who spotted Trump could send in a quick note with the hashtag #Trumptracker to let us and our readers know what the potential presidential candidate was doing on his tour of the state. It seemed like a handy social media tool. Alas, some of the best-laid plans don’t always go quite as well as we hope.

Rather than ferreting out reports on where Trump actually is, the hashtag was commandeered by Twitter comedians imagining Trump’s trip themselves. For a moment, we mourned our failed journalism attempt, but that quickly passed into amusement, thanks to their creative takes on Trump’s life. Here’s a sampling:
