Willie Nelson won’t have to sing to get out marijuana charges, judge says

Willie Nelson’s blue eyes might be crying over his pot charge, but at least he won’t have to sing about it in court.

The Texas judge tasked with ruling on Nelson’s marijuana possession case told the Associated Press she will not be making the singer appear in court and trill “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain.”

Becky Dean-Walker said Tuesday that Nelson can plead guilty by mail. Hudspeth County Attorney Kit Bramblett told media outlets he would recommend a sentence of singing to the court after Nelson was arrested in November at a Border Patrol checkpoint and charged with possession of marijuana.

Dean-Walker said Bramblett was joking and that the whole thing “got out of hand.”

I say Nelson still should give Hudspeth County a concert. It’s nice to see a little creativity in our justice system.
