A World Financial Center building in New York City, across the street from the World Trade Center, was evacuated because of what turned out to be a toy grenade.
A private security guard said he thought he saw something suspicious while screening a package at 2 World Financial Center, NBC News reports. The suspicious item turned out to be a toy grenade, mounted on a plaque that read “Complaint Dept. Pull Pin,” according to NBC.
After an investigation by a New York Police Department bomb squad, people were let back into the building.
The 2 World Financial Center building was badly damaged by falling debris during the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center, and was closed for repairs until May 2002.
