Chinese blog the Shanghaiist reports that the film’s message can best be summed up by 12 words that appear on screen near the end: “Refuse to be detached, pass on warmth, fill the world with love.”

The film’s director, Lin Jianshun, confirmed to Shanghaiist that his goal in making the film was to urge people to combat indifference in society.
