Lawrence B. Prior III, longtime contracting veteran, leaving BAE Systems

Lawrence B. Prior III, who heads the services unit of BAE Systems’ Arlington-based U.S. business, plans to leave the company later this year.

BAE said in a statement Friday that Prior “will be leaving to pursue other opportunities.”

Linda Hudson, president and chief executive of the U.S. business, will take over Prior’s responsibilities, according to the company statement.

The departure is the latest move for contracting veteran Prior. He worked at McLean-based Science Applications International Corp., where he reached the chief operating officer position in 2007, until departing to become president of Fairfax-based ManTech International in 2009.

About a year later, Prior, a former Marine Corps intelligence officer, arrived at BAE.

He did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
