Alert: Severe Thunderstorm Watch Until 8 P.M.

As temperatures climb through the low 90s this early afternoon, and the heat index into the mid 90s, the National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the metro area, in effect until 8 p.m. NWS says:

HAIL TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

What do we think? We agree some strong to severe storms are possible this afternoon and early evening. But they may be scattered in nature, so some locations may not see much of anything.

Stay tuned for updates. See our full forecast through the weekend, and NatCast for tonight's game at Nationals Park.
