A daily assessment of the potential for *accumulating* snow for the next week on a 0-10 scale. More infoFORECAST IN DETAIL
For the most part, it’s cooler than average this week with highs generally around 45 or cooler. But it’s appearing increasingly likely another week will pass without meaningful snow. Both rounds of precipitation, Tuesday and Friday, probably produce small amounts with the liquid form favored over the solid. Snow lovers, the window for us to cash in is closing.
Today (Monday): Not as windy nor as cold as yesterday, but still quite chilly. Morning temperatures in the 20s gradually rise to near 40 in the afternoon. Winds from the west become southerly at around 10 mph. Confidence: Medium-High
Tonight: Clear skies early allow the atmosphere to vent, with most spots falling back to near freezing or a few degrees below. Late at night, clouds increase putting a brake on temps, with lows from the mid-to-upper 20s in the colder suburbs to near freezing downtown.. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Tuesday): A weak cold front comes through likely accompanied by an area of light precipitation - starting mainly after the AM commute. It may be cold enough, especially north and west of the beltway, for a brief period of mixed precipitation (snow, sleet and/or freezing rain). By the afternoon, any mixed precipitation changes to rain before tapering off. Highs are mostly in the mid-40s.. Confidence: Medium
Tomorrow night: Skies clear with seasonably chilly lows from 25-30 (suburbs-city). It will feel colder with a gusty breeze, in the teens at times. Confidence: Medium-HighA LOOK AHEAD
Wednesday and Thursday are both on the cold side. Despite partly to mostly sunny skies, highs are only in the upper 30s Wednesday and 40-45 Thursday. Wednesday night lows range through the 20s.. Confidence: Medium
We’ll watch the next storm system approach the region Thursday night and Friday, when clouds increase. At one point, the storm looked like it might be a significant snow/ice maker, but not so much any more. There’s a chance any precipitation we get starts briefly as snow before becoming a wintry mix and ultimately rain into Friday night. Lows Thursday night are near freezing, with highs 35-40 Friday. Confidence: Low-Medium
There may be lingering clouds and showers Saturday morning, but gradually the weather improves for the weekend. Generally, skies are partly to mostly sunny with highs in the mid-40s and lows 25-32 Saturday night. Confidence: Low-Medium
