FORECAST IN DETAIL

The Nice Day campaign is in full swing. High pressure and its trusty surrogates (sunshine, light breezes, comfortable temperatures, and low humidity) are scoring record-high approval ratings based on the latest polling. There is a strong chance that each day this week could earn a Nice Day badge, creating quite a post-summer rally. The issues become more cloudy by the weekend as rain chances sneak back into the debate. However, the change would likely find support from the rainfall deficit reduction advocates, so everybody wins with this weather.

Today (Tuesday): Sunshine dominates with just a few fluffy white clouds again. Highs are similar to yesterday with mid-70s to around 80 along with those light pleasant breezes. Confidence: Sunny sky-high

Tonight: Mostly clear and cool with lows ranging from near 50 in the outer suburbs to near 60 in the city. Light breezes offer a good reason to keep those windows open. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Wednesday): Mostly sunny and a bit warmer with highs from 80 to 85 around the area, but dew points (humidity) remain quite low. That means that these are comfortably warm conditions. Light breezes again. Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: Mostly clear, comfortable with lows ranging through the 50s again. Confidence: High

A LOOK AHEAD

Thursday is like Wednesday and a probable Nice Day qualifier with mostly sunny skies, highs in the low-to-mid 80s, and still relatively low humidity (dew points in the 50s). Thursday night sees mostly clear skies, but slightly warmer temperatures with lows from the middle 50s to middle 60s. Confidence: High

Friday is marginally the trickiest day of the workweek, but based on current trends, I believe we could get yet another Nice Day classification. Partly to mostly sunny skies are expected with highs in the low-to-mid 80s. Friday night is partly cloudy with slightly higher humidity and lows ranging through the 60s. Confidence: Medium

The weekend is mixed with increasing clouds and risks of rain, especially by Sunday. For now, Saturday looks partly cloudy and warm with highs ranging around the middle 80s along with a 30% chance of an afternoon shower. That chance continues into Saturday night under partly cloudy skies and lows in the 60s. Sunday looks cloudy with a 60% likelihood of rain as highs only reach up to the upper 70s and low 80s. Confidence: Low-Medium
