The midday sun is still hot and the humidity is still noticeable. But man has it been a joy to be outside the past couple days compared to last week, that is unless you got caught in last evening’s gully washer near and inside the Beltway (0.5-1.5 inches of rain in less than an hour with 30-40 mph winds, according to the National Weather Service). Typical July weather continues the next several days with the best chance of showers and thunderstorms waiting for the weekend.

Today (Wednesday): Average July heat with average July humidity (noticeable but tolerable) is the story for today. Partly sunny skies help highs to the upper 80s to near 90 with nothing more than an isolated shower or thundershower. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: With the extreme heat gone, we can actually enjoy evening time outside without instantly sweating. Can’t complain about evening temperatures falling through the 80s and into the 70s late with a chance of an isolated shower, followed by overnight lows in the upper 60s to low 70s under partly cloudy skies. . Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Thursday): Pretty similar to today with partly sunny skies, highs in the mid-to-upper 80s and not overly humid. Once again, I don’t think we’ll see anything more than an isolated shower or thundershower. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Ditto from tonight. Maybe, just maybe an isolated shower early. Otherwise we’re partly cloudy with lows in the upper 60s to low 70s. Confidence: Medium-High

Friday doesn’t bring much creativity to the table - skies stay partly sunny as humidity holds in the moderate range and highs top out in the mid-80s. As of now, a front to our south should stay far enough south so that the most we’d see is an isolated shower or thunderstorm. Back down to the upper 60s to low 70s for Friday night lows with the chance of a passing shower or two. Confidence: Medium

Our weekend weather is influenced by a warm front meandering through from the south. So while we keep the partly sunny skies, we ratchet up the humidity and increase the chance of showers and thunderstorms to 40%, especially during the early mornings and late afternoons into evenings. Highs both days should max out near 90 to the low 90s with Saturday night lows from near 70 to the mid-70s. Confidence: Low-Medium
