FORECAST IN DETAIL
September can offer some of the finest weather of the year in Washington, D.C. and this week it will deliver just that. We’ll have days of sparkling, warm sunshine without the humidity and crisp, comfortable nights. But late in the work week, it turns a bit more humid and a front *might* get hung up over the region for the weekend, bringing rain chances.
Today (Monday): Hello high pressure! Thanks to you, we have just a few clouds, delightfully dry air and warm, but not too warm afternoon temperatures. Highs range from the mid-70s to near 80. The light breeze from the northwest at around 5-10 mph feels great. Confidence: High
Tonight: Splendidly clear. The dry air and calm winds allow low temperature to drop all the way down to 50 in the cooler suburbs to right around 60 downtown. Another night to leave the windows wide open. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Tuesday): More high pressure. With it centered smack dab over us, there’s not much wind. But there’s wall-to-wall sunshine, lifting temperatures to near 80 with low humidity. Confidence: High
Tomorrow night: Same deal as Monday night. Clear skies, light winds and pleasantly cool temperatures ranging from 50 in the cooler suburbs to near 60 downtown. Confidence: HighA LOOK AHEAD
Wednesday through Friday look pretty solid. Although high pressure drifts off to the north and east, it maintains a strong grip over the eastern third of the U.S. This means more dry weather with partly to mostly sunny days and comfortable evenings. We’ll see a slow increase in humidity from low to moderate levels. No sign of any of the sticky weather we experienced last week. Highs are generally within a few degrees of 80, maybe hitting the mid-80s by Friday. Overnight lows range from the mid-50s in the cooler suburbs to the mid-60s downtown. Confidence: Medium
A weak cold front approaches the area Saturday and could set off a few showers or thundershowers (30-40 percent chance). Before any rain, it’s warm and a bit more humid, with highs 80-85. Maybe a few lingering showers Saturday night, with lows in the 60s. Confidence: Low-Medium
Depending on how much push Saturday’s front gets, it may clear out Sunday or, if it stalls out, it may be cloudy with a chance of rain. Highs most likely range from the upper 70s to the low 80s. Confidence: Low
