High pressure is swooping into the region to give us a break from the dreary, dank darkness of the past few days. We dry out, but temperatures fall closer to normal for the time of year. A weather system to the southeast Wednesday may throw back some clouds but otherwise we see a mainly clear, cool period into Saturday. A rainy weather system takes aim for our area by early Sunday, but the weather model jury is still out on how much impact we see.
Today (Tuesday): The sun makes a grand return today to help offset the colder winds from the north and northwest at 5-10 to sometimes 10-15 mph. Highs manage the upper 40s to the low 50s as big high pressure builds over the region. Confidence: High
Tonight: Mostly clear skies most of the night although some clouds could creep back into the area by late. Light winds. Lows dip into the mid-to-upper 20s in the outer suburbs to all the low-to-mid 30s in the city. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Wednesday): The cold front that passed to our south on Monday is trying for a comeback, maybe throwing some clouds back in our general direction. We stay on the cool side of the boundary so that winds from the northeast keep our daytime temperatures down mainly in the mid-to-upper 40s. A very slight risk of a shower is seen along the southeastern periphery of our area. Confidence: Medium
Tomorrow night: Skies trend clearer overnight allowing temperatures to slip back into the mid-to-upper 20s again in the outer ‘burbs to the low -to-mid 30s in the city. Confidence: Medium-highA LOOK AHEAD
Thursday and Friday bring us back to our regularly scheduled sunshine with slightly warmer than normal temperatures. Highs range from the low-to-mid 50s with lows doing the usually bigger range from the middle 20s in the outer areas to the middle 30s in the core of the city. Confidence: Medium-high
The weekend starts decently with partly to mostly sunny skies for Saturday as highs again manage the low-to-mid 50s. Clouds increase Saturday night with lows dropping into the 30s, although they may start to increase toward dawn as clouds and rain start to move into the region. Showers are favored on Sunday too with highs stalling in the mid-to-upper 40s. The guidance is mixed on Sunday’s details with some interpretations giving us heavier, steadier rain and others favoring scattered showers. We will fine tune this as we get closer. Confidence: Medium Saturday and Low-Medium Sunday
