TODAY'S DAILY DIGIT
A somewhat subjective rating of the day’s weather, on a scale of 0 to 10

Lowest humidity of week and limited storm chances but still too darn hot!

The hot, humid, and sometimes stormy weather pattern shows little sign of relenting in this first week of July. Every day this week, temperatures reach 90 or higher and there’s at least a small chance of late day or overnight thunderstorms most days. Not exactly great news for the hundreds of thousands remaining without power.
Today (Monday): First some good news...humidity levels will be a little lower today - in the moderate range. And temperatures, while hot, may not reach 95 for the first time since the middle of last week. But with plenty of sunshine, we should have little trouble reaching 90. Most spots reach the low 90s for highs. A few thunderstorms could form close to a front positioned to our east and south (20-30 percent chance). Confidence: Medium-High

What is the Storm Threat Level?
Tonight: There’s a 20-30 percent chance of evening storms (a few of which could be strong - but the primary risk is southeast of the D.C. metro region). Otherwise, it’s partly cloudy and mild, with lows 67-75. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Tuesday): The humidity creeps up a little bit as the front which had dropped the humidity returns to the north. The passage of the boundary could ignite a storm or two (30 percent chance). Highs reach the mid-90s under variably cloudy skies. Confidence: Medium-High
Tomorrow night: A storm or two is possible early, then partly cloudy and muggy. Lows range from the upper 60s in the cooler suburbs to the mid-to-upper 70s downtown. Confidence: Medium-High
A LOOK AHEADHot and humid on Wednesday, July 4 with a chance of late afternoon and evening thunderstorms. It seems like that’s frequently been the forecast on Independence Day in recent years. Highs are likely in the mid-90s. Evening storms are possible Wednesday - maybe interfering with fireworks celebration. It’s sticky, with lows from near 70 in the cooler suburbs to the upper 70s downtown. Confidence: Medium
Thursday through Sunday is a broken record: hot and humid with opportunities for afternoon and/or evening storms. I don’t think the overall pattern looks favorable for a large, severe weather outbreak, but rather your typical isolated-scattered summertime storms that can occasionally produce strong winds. Highs average out in the mid-90s with lows in the 70s. Confidence: Medium
