FORECAST IN DETAIL

While it seems as though we have fast-forwarded to late November with this cool air mass, we do see signs of temperature recovery in the days ahead. After one more day today of late November normal highs, we expect to surge into the upper 60s and low 70s tomorrow. Mostly highs in the 60s with cool nights persist into the weekend, but there is a chance for another round of 70s by Sunday ahead of the next weather system. And after some drizzle and light showers today and tonight, we should stay mostly dry through the balance of the week.

Today (Tuesday): That cloud canopy hangs in there most of the day with scattered light showers or occasional drizzle. Patchy areas of fog hang around through the first half of the morning too. High temperatures continue to run 10-15 degrees below normal from the middle 50s to around 60. Light breezes continue from the east and northeast. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Mostly cloudy conditions continue with scattered light drizzle or showers. Lows range from the middle 40s in the far outer suburbs to the low 50s in the city. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Wednesday): We finally see a change in the air mass as the winds start coming from the west at 10-15 mph. Partly cloudy skies in the morning could transition toward partly to even mostly sunny skies later in the afternoon. Highs jump to the upper 60s and low 70s. Yes, after Monday and today, this feels downright warm. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow night: A few clouds possible as winds calm a bit and temperatures dip into the upper 30s in outlying areas to the middle 40s in the city. Confidence: Medium

A LOOK AHEAD

Thursday is favored to have high pressure overhead, offering a relatively cool air mass yet as highs reach up into the low-to-mid 60s. Sunshine dominates along with relatively calm winds, making this perhaps the best day of the week as Jason noted yesterday. Cool Thursday night with lows again ranging from the upper 30s to the middle 40s. Confidence: Medium

Friday sees the arrival of yet another cool front during the day, so skies become partly cloudy at times, but at this point, precipitation is not expected to accompany it. Highs manage to crest in the mid-to-upper 60s. Friday night is cool again under partly cloudy skies and lows ranging from the upper 30s to the middle 40s. Confidence: Low-Medium

The weekend details continue to fluctuate (it’s that transitional time of year!), which keep our confidence on the low side overall. The latest thinking favors a seasonal to cool Saturday under partly to maybe mostly sunny skies as highs hold in the 60s. Saturday night should be a bit milder with lows from the upper 40s to the mid 50s. Sunday aims to see a wind shift with warmer flow from the west and high temperatures popping either to the upper 60s or even the low-to-mid 70s. Clouds could increase later in the afternoon toward evening as yet another front approaches the region. Confidence: Low
