FORECAST IN DETAIL

Our warm weather week continues with temperatures popping strongly in the coming days to the upper 70s and even low 80s. The good news is that we keep our humidity relatively dry (dew points in the 50s mainly), so it should be a generally comfortable warmth. With November knocking on the door, this may be one of our last chances to enjoy weather quite this warm. By the latter part of the weekend, the combination of an approaching cold front and possible influences from tropical storm Sandy offer cooler conditions and increasing shower chances.

Today (Tuesday): Partly sunny skies in the morning transition to partly to mostly cloudy conditions in the afternoon as a disturbance moving along a warm front passes to our north through Pennsylvania. We do have a 20% risk of a light shower, especially in the far northern sections of the area. Temperatures continue to push upwards with highs in the upper 70s to around 80. Light winds come from the south and southwest at about 5 mph. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Partly cloudy and warmer with lows only in the 50s to near 60 in the city along with light winds again. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Wednesday): Ok, now I can more safely break out the Nice Day icon! Mostly sunny skies are more likely with temperatures surging into the upper 70s to low 80s around the area. Light winds and low humidity make this a winning Wednesday! Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: Partly cloudy with lows mostly in the 50s, but it could hold a bit closer to 60 in the city. Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

Thursday and Friday finish our final full week of October with mostly sunny skies and highs ranging through the 70s. There is a chance a few spots could get close to 80 again, especially on Thursday for areas from the city south and west. Thursday and Friday nights see lows range from the middle 50s to around 60 under mostly clear skies. Confidence: Medium-high

Saturday is partly to mostly cloudy and cooler with highs mainly in the low 70s. We have a shot at scattered showers by late in the day, especially south of the city (we’ll say a 30% risk for now). A 40% chance of showers is seen Saturday night with mostly cloudy skies and lows in the 50s to around 60 in interior urban area. Confidence: Low-medium

Sunday begins our squeeze play between an approaching modified Polar front from the west and tropical storm Sandy to our east. The latest guidance suggests that while the storm should stay offshore, its moisture could get pulled into the front. Our estimation for Sunday right now is mostly cloudy skies, highs in the low-to-mid 60s, and showers becoming more widespread by Sunday afternoon into evening. The good news for marathon runners is that the easterly flow early Sunday should keep conditions cooler longer into the morning hours. Confidence: Low-Medium
