FORECAST IN DETAIL

For those of you who were tiring of our seasonably chilly temperatures the past two weeks, this forecast is definitely for you. For the other readers who want real winter this year, this is a continuation of frustration that we saw most of last winter too. A warmer flow pattern is setting up that should build to an impressive crescendo this weekend as highs reach up well into the 60s. Outside of showers on Friday and again maybe Sunday, the pattern is mostly a dry one too.

Some colder weather tries to work back into the picture by the middle to end of next week. The key word is “try”.

Today (Tuesday): More sunshine and warmer temperatures highlight pleasant conditions that don’t require as much winter weather gear like scarves, gloves, hats, ear muffs, and nose-warmers. Highs reach up through the upper 40s and toward the middle 50s in most areas. And only light breezes are expected. Confidence: High

Tonight: A few scattered clouds are expected with lows ranging broadly from the middle 20s in the outer suburbs to the low-to-mid 30s in the city. Light breezes. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Wednesday): Partly cloudy skies with even warmer temperatures ranging from the lower 50s to up near 60 especially south and east of the city. Light winds from the southwest continue to truck in the warmth. Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: Partly cloudy and warmer with lows ranging mainly through the 30s. Confidence: Medium-high

A LOOK AHEAD

Thursday should start mostly sunny, but some high clouds could work into the picture by afternoon. Temperatures are a tad cooler than Wednesday but should still manage low-to-mid 50s in most areas. Thursday night is partly to mostly cloudy with lows ranging from the middle 30s to low 40s. Also a 30% chance of showers are included toward the early morning hours, especially west of the city. Confidence: Medium

Friday is our cloudiest day of the week with scattered showers likely. Right now, it doesn’t look like any sort of needed heavier precipitation, but just enough to dampen the day. Warm winds should still succeed in pushing temperatures well up into the low-to-mid 50s. Still cloudy Friday night with evening showers possible as lows drop into the upper 30s and low-to-mid 40s. Confidence: Low-Medium

The weekend is looking impressive with mostly sunny skies on Saturday as well as early Sunday before clouds sneak in late in the weekend (along with a 30% chance of showers late Sunday). Highs range from the low-to-mid 60s on Saturday to the middle to maybe even upper 60s on Sunday. Wow. Look for lows Saturday night mainly in the 40s with a few scattered clouds. Confidence: Low-Medium
