After breaking the 1950 record yesterday at National with an impressive high of 71, it looks like we can see more of those pleasant 70s again today. However, today’s record of 76 set in 1998 is a more difficult challenge to match or surpass. A cold front arrives late tonight with maybe a few showers to turn temperatures downward again, but we should still see milder-than-normal weather tomorrow before near normal temperatures return Thursday to Friday. But guess what? Another round of warming (into at least the 60s) returns for the weekend with possibly some additional showers.
Today (Tuesday): Big high pressure is shifting farther offshore into the western Atlantic with warmer wrap-around winds bringing the best day of the week. Today starts with some possible patchy early fog, but otherwise mostly sunny skies, light breezes from the south, and high temperatures reaching up to and beyond yesterday’s levels in the low-to-mid 70s. Confidence: High
Tonight: Clouds increase with a 30% chance of showers toward dawn as a cold front aims for the area. Winds gradually pick up and then shift to coming from the northwest by dawn at 10-15 mph. Low temperatures range from the upper 40s in the outer suburbs to the middle 50s in the city. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Wednesday): Partly sunny skies and breezy with cooler temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s that are still warmer-than-normal for this time of year. Those winds from the northwest at 10-15 mph make it feel cooler than that at times. Confidence: Medium-High
Tomorrow night: Both the winds and the temperatures dip lower under partly cloudy skies. Lows range from the upper 20s in the outer suburbs to the middle 30s in the city. Confidence: Medium-HighA LOOK AHEAD
Thursday and Friday are fairly similar days as cool high pressure ambles its way across the region. Partly to mostly sunny skies with temperatures ranging through the mid-to-upper 40s on Thursday to upper 40s and low 50s on Friday. Mostly clear Thursday night with lows in the upper 20s to middle 30s again. The best chance for clouds may come toward Friday afternoon and night. A 30% chance of showers arrives by Friday night with lows mainly in the upper 30s to low 40s. Confidence: Medium
The weekend brings another warm push into the area with temperatures likely to soar into at least the low-to-mid 60s again. The warmer flow from the southwest could push Sunday temperatures even higher. Sky conditions are partly cloudy on Saturday into Saturday night (lows dip into the 40s) with a slight risk of showers. Partly to mostly sunny skies are favored currently for Sunday. This latest warm pattern should last into at least Monday of next week too. Confidence: Low-Medium
