FORECAST IN DETAIL

A developing area of high pressure over the mid-Atlantic and Southeast becomes large and in charge this week, and that means we’re mostly high and dry weather-wise. Gradual warming brings us from the 60s today to a shot at 80 by midweek. So, if you’re not yet wholly ready to give yourself over to autumn’s chill, then you’re sure to enjoy the forecast below!

Today (Sunday): After a cool start with morning lows in the 40s to near 50, our temperatures warm nicely under plenty of sun. There’s just something about the fall that makes those blue skies even blue-er, and it provides a vivid backdrop for all that foliage. Afternoon highs rise into the mid-to-upper 60s, with a bit of a breeze from the northwest. Confidence: High

Tonight: Ahh, the clear and cool nights of fall. A refreshingly crisp overnight offers perfect viewing for the waning end of the Orionid meteor shower if you’re a night owl or an early riser. Dress warmly though - with clear skies temperatures should easily dip to the low-to-mid 40s in the suburbs, and upper 40s to near 50 in town. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Monday): If you liked yesterday and today, you’re gonna love tomorrow. Sunshine continues to dominate with spectacular highs reaching the low 70s. Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: Temperatures don’t fall quite as low tomorrow night, thanks to the warmer daytime highs and possibly some clouds from a passing disturbance to our north. We’ll stay dry though, with partly cloudy skies and lows in the mid-40s to mid-50s. Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

High pressure isn’t ready to let go. That means dry weather Tuesday through Wednesday, other than the small chance of a Tuesday morning shower, and partly to mostly sunny skies. Flow from the south/southwest should push temperatures well above normal as highs head for the mid-70s to near 80! Tranquil conditions Tuesday night with lows in the 50s. Confidence: Medium
