Record-setting warmth at Washington Dulles and Baltimore-Washington International airports
Who knew the winter solstice was just over three hours away? A mid-evening surge of mild air has pushed high temperatures at Dulles and BWI airports into record territory. From 6 p.m through 9 p.m, Dulles was 60 at least tying its record from 1998. Between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., BWI reached 62 or 63 breaking the record of 61 from 1956. For perspective, BWI’s 9 p.m. temperature of 62 is 18 degrees above its average high of 44!
Reagan National’s record of 68 from 1923 appears safe. The high so far today is 61 there.
