Flash Flood Warning for Large Part of Metro Area

Northern half of region most impacted

Warning is in effect until 11:30 a.m. From the National Weather Service:

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED SHOWERS WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS THE IMMEDIATE WASHINGTON METRO AREA...MOVING VERY SLOWLY TO THE NORTH AT 5 MPH. DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATES THAT 2 TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN IN SOME AREAS OVER THE PAST FEW HOURS.

ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE IN THE WARNED AREA.

The heaviest rain is now occurring in western Montgomery County. Occasional showers, heavy at times, will continue for at least the next several hours with the heaviest rain continuing in the District and in the western and northern suburbs.
