FORECAST IN DETAIL
It all seems too calm now, doesn’t it? Last week’s earthquake is becoming a more distant memory even though aftershocks have lingered. Meanwhile, Irene is gone and the next potential tropical trouble - Tropical Storm Katia - is at least a week from threatening the U.S., if at all. In the wake of hurriquake, we’ve caught ourselves a nice little streak of not-too-hot and storm-free days that continues today and likely tomorrow, before things become more summery heading into the holiday weekend.
Today (Wednesday): What an awesome day - mostly sunny skies, low humidity and highs in the mid-80s. Not much else to say besides get out there and soak up the nice, calm weather. Confidence: High
Tonight: It’s a mostly clear and comfortable evening as temperatures slip back into and through the 70s, on their way to overnight lows in the upper 50s (suburbs) to mid-60s (downtown). Believe it or not, that’s right around average for the end of August. But sure sounds cool compared to the many warm nights we’ve had this summer. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Thursday): Humidity may be slightly higher but still mostly in check, and skies may see a bit more in the way of clouds but should still be at least partly sunny. Temperatures edge upward as well, though highs in the mid-to-upper 80s is still a good deal. Confidence: High
Tomorrow night: With a bit more moisture in the air there’s a slight chance of an evening shower. Otherwise, we’re just lookin’ at partly cloudy skies and lows in the 60s. Confidence: Medium-HighA LOOK AHEAD
On Friday we head into the holiday weekend with a more than decent day, but more flaws than the previous couple. First off, humidity is more noticeable, and highs a notch warmer in the upper 80s to near 90. With the extra heat and humidity in the air, we’ll have to keep around a small chance of an afternoon or evening shower or t’storm. Confidence: Medium-High
Saturday and Sunday are back to typical, but not extreme, heat and humidity. Highs aim for near 90 to the low 90s with partly sunny skies, moderate to high humidity and a 20-30% chance of mainly afternoon or evening showers and storms. By Labor Day, a cold front may increase shower/storm chances to more like 40% as highs max out in the 80s. What about morning lows?... in the upper 60s to low 70s all weekend long. Confidence: Low-Medium
