FORECAST IN DETAIL

We have a great day ahead and then perhaps some Saturday thunder becoming Sunday showers. It could even linger until Monday. Not to mention this precipitation ushers in a somewhat windy regime of cooler air. So, over the next few days we strike a small compromise with some much-needed rain but we give up our mild air for a while after today. Just be mentally prepared!

Today (Friday): After any patches of morning fog (hurriedly) burn off, mostly sunny skies should dominate. Clouds may try to show themselves during the midday hours, but more likely toward the evening. yet our warm highs in the low-to-mid 70s shouldn’t be derailed. South of town, in the sunniest spots, a few readings in the upper 70s are more likely. Breezes should be light, at around 10 mph, out of the south and southeast. Take that long lunch day today, perhaps? Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Clouds that are preceding our weekend’s precipitation may try to make themselves better known as the night wears on. At least temperatures only slowly fall toward dawn-time lows in the mid-to-upper 50s. Breezes remain light (5-10 mph) out of the south. Toward sunrise, a shower (5-10% chance) can’t be ruled out! Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Saturday): If not fully overcast, a few peeks of sunshine are possible in the morning. Along with increasingly overcast skies, shower chances increase from 25% chance in the morning to afternoon chances of around 70%. Some thunder may be heard, as well. At this time, severe weather seems pretty unlikely, but it deserves at least half an eye. Most spots should see measurable rain, and heavier downpours could get totals climbing. Temperatures spike by early afternoon in a slightly muggy 72-79 degree range. Winds of 5-15 mph turn from south to west before the afternoon ends. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow night: The 10-15 mph wind isn’t done shifting direction (from west to north), as our cold front continues to pass through the region in what seems like subtle phases. While thunderstorms and showers slowly tapering leave behind cloudy conditions, I would still tote an umbrella along with you for evening plans. Shower chances diminish from 60% at dinner time to 30% near dawn as we approach low temperatures in the cooler upper 40s. Confidence: Medium

Sunday: Still could have some showers around throughout, or even a general rain increasing as the day progresses, depending on how things play out (50-60% chance). Clouds dominate the day for the most part, but I’m leaning against a total washout. High temperatures may only reach the upper 50s to lower 60s so consider a jacket, especially during the morning hours. Confidence: Low-Medium

A LOOK AHEAD

Sunday night: There’s about a 50% chance of lingering rain or showers into the night. The more noticeable theme could be the wind-chill though, as a low pressure winds up nearby. Winds may be sustained in the 10-20 mph range at times and blow from the colder north direction. Before dawn, we could hit near 40 to the mid-40s. Add in the wind and your body which is acclimated to mild temperatures? Brr. Confidence: Low-Medium

Monday might not be the best start to the workweek. Temperatures only hover in the upper 50s to around 60, under mostly cloudy skies. A chilly breeze may still be around as well. Shower chances throughout the day stand at around 40-50% and they could focus on the morning more than afternoon. Confidence: Low-Medium

Tuesday finds us a bit more lucky overall, as winds slacken and clouds break a bit more. High temperatures could get up to around 60 again, but may feel a bit more comfortable than Monday. At least we have a greater chance of sun versus showers, eh? Confidence: Low
