FORECAST IN DETAIL

Just when you think it can’t get any warmer, highs head for near or past 80 today, and at least to the mid-80s tomorrow! Heading into midweek, the storm system that sparked a tornado outbreak across the central Plains yesterday into last night moves through. But by that time, all we probably get out of it is some clouds, maybe a stray shower, and cooler but still fairly mild temps.

Today (Sunday): Many have been praying for rain, and a few showers could wet the ground early-to-mid morning (30% chance). But by late morning, any showers should be gone as mostly cloudy skies become partly to mostly sunny through afternoon. The sun, along with mild breezes from the southwest, send afternoon highs to near 80 to the mid-80s. You may even notice a touch of humidity. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: What a great way to end the weekend! Evening temperatures fall through the 70s with mostly clear skies and a light beeze, and overnight temperatures stay fairly mild, too, only getting down to the upper 50s to mid-60s. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Monday): Our mini-heatwave peaks tomorrow as we head back to work. We’re smack dab in the middle of the bulge of warm air along the East Coast, and with mostly sunny skies highs soar to at least the mid-80s. Near 90, believe it or not, isn’t out of reach! Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: A cold front mostly dries up as it approaches, but still we’ll include a 20% chance of a shower or thunderstorm. All in all we’re in for another almost summer-like overnight with partly cloudy skies and lows near 60 to the mid-60s. Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

Tuesday may end up the star of the week as far as the weather goes. Other than our growing rain deficit, it’s hard to find fault with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-to-upper 70s. Tuesday night lows from near 50 to the mid-50s are a little cooler than the previous couple nights, but still well above average. Just a slight chance of an evening or overnight shower under partly to mostly cloudy skies. Confidence: Medium-High

A system centered to our south may or may not creep far enough north to clip us with a shower or two on Wednesday. At the very least, skies are partly to mostly cloudy and we’re cooler than we’ve been, with highs in the upper 60s to near 70. Confidence: Low-Medium
