FORECAST IN DETAIL

As beautiful as the last work week was, this week is ugly. Sunshine is difficult to come by and rain is in the forecast almost every day. Tuesday holds the potential to be the wettest day of the bunch, but Wednesday through Friday are no picnic with afternoon/evening showers in the picture. Even Saturday holds onto shower chances, with Sunday showing the best potential for some drying.

Today (Monday): It’s kind of pathetic, but today may be one of the better days this week. Although it’s mostly cloudy, showers are generally spotty. A morning shower isn’t out of the question (20-30% chance) with a slightly better chance (30-40%) in the afternoon. If we can get some sunshine (which seems likely), temperatures probably reach into the low-to-mid 70s ; otherwise, upper 60s about does it. Winds are light. Confidence: Medium

Tonight: Showers are likely at times overnight, with a rumble of thunder possible. Lows are right around 60. Confidence: Medium-High

Keep reading for the forecast through the weekend...

Tomorrow (Tuesday): The combination of a strong feed of moisture off the ocean and an intense upper level disturbance spinning overhead means a strong likelihood of showers and thunderstorms, which could be quite heavy. Unlike the previous several days, rain is a good bet for significant portions of the day rather than just the late afternoon or evening. Considerable cloud cover probably holds high temps near 70. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Showers and thunderstorms remain likely, possibly heavy at times. Lows are near 60. Confidence: Medium

A LOOK AHEAD

Showers and storms are a good possibility Wednesday morning before a possible midday break. Then, more showers and storms may fire in the afternoon and evening. Highs are in the low 70s. Overnight, showers/storms are a good bet, especially early. Lows are near 60. Confidence: Medium

Thursday through Saturday all present showers and t’storm opportunities, especially from the late afternoon and into the evening. The coverage of this activity should become spottier each day as the responsible upper level system weakens, allowing for increasing intervals of sunshine. Highs moderate from the low 70s Thursday to the upper 70s by Saturday. Overnight are generally around 60. Confidence: Medium

We may get a brief break in the cloudy, wet pattern Sunday with partly sunny skies and highs 75-80. But that’s a long ways off and we have a lot of rain to get through first... Confidence: Low-Medium
