We have a few patches of potentially oh-so-slightly unsettled weather tonight and late Saturday night to get through before a sunnier, calmer Sunday through Tuesday. Temperatures are pleasant today, except for a breeze which will last through tomorrow when temperatures struggle to rise as high. After today, we may not see the 50 degree mark until Monday, but that’s not so bad considering average highs in the mid-and-upper 40s. Always dress in layers, this time of year! We’re on a small roller coaster too.
Today (Friday): Skies are partly to mostly cloudy late, though it may be mostly sunny for much of the morning. Geographically speaking, folks north of town are likely to see more sun than folks south of town. North-northwesterly winds behind the cold front — that’s essentially stalling nearby — could average in the 10-15mph range with slightly higher gusts possible. Not that you’ll really feel the average temperatures with the wind, but they should still be able to get in the 47-53 degree range. Confidence: Medium-High
Tonight: : We look to stay mostly cloudy as a weak low passes just to our south. There is a 20% chance of light showers (40% chance near our southernmost readers perhaps) that may, if precip is heavy enough (doubtful), mix with a couple of snowflakes — no accumulation potential though thanks to marginal temperatures and weak precipitation rates. Lows range from near 30 to the mid-30s, with a light west wind blowing occasionally. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow (Saturday): This one has the potential to be just slightly less-than-seasonable with temperatures in the mid-40s and a few spots south of or in the city probably hitting the upper 40s. Skies may start off a bit cloudy but should clear as the day goes on! Northwest breezes around 5-10 mph may cool you a bit further, too — again, dress in layers! Confidence: Medium-High
Tomorrow night: Skies cloud over again as a weak disturbance moves to our north. While snow accumulation chances are minimal, we will have some atmospheric action overhead that could provide enough instability to give us a quick burst of flakes toward sunrise. Most of us should have low temperatures right around the freezing mark, with a few upper 20s possible outside the Beltway. If you’re lucky you might see up to a brief dusting on a few objects? Confidence: Medium
Sunday: After any remaining clouds depart in the morning, Sunday finally shows us some pretty darn blue skies for much of the day! Highs in the mid-to-upper 40s will not be able to go much higher, as the cold air behind our cold front is still holding on. If you have a light jacket and can move around somewhat, I think you can enjoy some time outdoors! Confidence: Medium-High
Sunday night: It continues mostly clear just like the daytime, with lows in the upper 20s to lower 30s. Any breeze is minimal. Not too bad, right? Confidence: Medium
Monday continues with sunshine and begins a small warm-up. Highs attain an above-average level once again, with temperatures possibly in the 49-55 degree range. A light southerly breeze is responsible for our slight boost in temperatures. Confidence: Medium-High
Tuesday may see a few clouds move in, unfortunately with highs possibly muted a bit, in the upper 40s to around 50 seem likely. I guess that’s all the more reason to get out and enjoy Sunday and Monday! Confidence: Low-Medium
