Wind brings us a bad hair day, so minus one for that. I guess if you're bald it might be a 10.

FORECAST IN DETAIL

We’re now past the time of year where we should expect days above 70 degrees as a norm, but we’ll want to test that mark over the coming period. Other than a return of sunshine, wind is probably the story of the weekend -- especially today. It’s going to be gusty and might be a bother here and there. Given the gloom of most of the recent work week, we’ll just have to take what we can get and it’s still pretty darn good.

Today (Saturday): If you’re up early (near or before the sun rises high) prepare for a bit of a chill, but temperatures warm nicely heading through mid-morning and headed into the afternoon. Highs should range from the upper 60s to near 70 under mostly sunny skies. I saved the “worst” for last, and that’s the wind. It’s gusty from the northwest all day, though particularly so from mid-morning through afternoon when sustained winds could top 15 to 20 mph and gusts could hit 35 mph or so (stronger than nice day stamp criteria). Still, not terribly uncommon for a sunny day in fall, and it won’t really ruin much. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Temperatures dive along with the sunset. After dark, you’ll probably want to consider having some layers around to help keep you warm. Lows are mainly in the mid-to-upper 40s but some of the cold spots could dip into the low 40s. Winds are somewhat enhanced by sunshine, so they’ll diminish but we’re still talking sustained speeds around 10 mph. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Sunday): Another pretty nice one is ahead. After a crisp start, plenty of sun (perhaps filtered by high clouds) warms us up to near or above 70 across the area. Winds are still up, but less than today -- sustained around 10 mph with higher gusts. Clouds may thicken as the day wears on, but I think mostly sunny is still the plan much of the day. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: It’s partly cloudy and a bit warmer thanks to those clouds. Low temperatures should range from near 50 to the mid-50s. Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

We could end up cloudy’ish, but for now let’s say partly sunny on Monday. We’ll be near a frontal zone as a storm system approaches from the west, but that boundary is going to want to lift back north a little and the clouds may be mainly high level. Temperatures are right around 70 again. Winds should be notably lighter than over the weekend. Confidence: Medium

On Tuesday a strengthening low pressure in the Midwest and Ohio Valley should help pump in some moisture and warmth across the area. Skies are probably mostly cloudy. We’ll need to watch for the potential of some late-day showers and storms given the deepening storm to the west. Highs should reach the mid-70s, perhaps warmer if we get extra sun. Confidence: Medium
