FORECAST IN DETAIL

Not that today is an indoor day by any means, but it probably won’t match up to yesterday’s perfect to near-perfect conditions. The main Mother’s Day impact of an approaching low-pressure system is increasing clouds, though there is a slight chance of an afternoon shower. Shower chances increase overnight tonight and stick around through midweek. But confidence is low as to how much rain we’ll see when all is said and done. Happy Mother’s Day, Mom!

Today (Sunday): Partly sunny skies early turn mostly cloudy as we move through the day. Still, temperatures should manage to reach pleasant highs near 80, and you may notice a touch of humidity as dew points rise on a southerly breeze around 10 mph. There’s a 20% chance of a light afternoon shower. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: A low-pressure system riding up the Appalachians gradually increases the chance of mainly light showers from 20% during the evening to 50% toward dawn. Overnight lows are relatively mild under mostly cloudy skies, in the low-to-mid 60s. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow (Monday): Shower chances increase to around 60-70% as we head back to work. Unfortunately, models are still duking it out as to whether we’re looking at just scattered showers or more of an all-day soaker. Mostly cloudy skies and any rain that we do see should hold highs to the low 70s. Confidence: Low-Medium

Tomorrow night: This slow-moving system just won’t clear out of here quite yet. So not only do we hold on to a chance of showers, but this is actually the time frame where models agree chances are highest - around 70%. Overnight lows drop to the low 60s. Confidence: Medium

A LOOK AHEAD

Upper-level energy and a weak disturbance near the surface keep a 50-60% chance of showers in the forecast for Tuesday. Expect partly to mostly cloudy conditions and highs in the 70s. Rain chances gradually decrease Tuesday night, though we probably don’t see much in the way of clearing skies. Lows are still on the mild side - near 60 to the low 60s. Confidence: Low-Medium

At the moment, lingering showers look to stay to our south and east on Wednesday. But they’re close enough that we’ll still mention a 20-30% chance of showers or a storm. Skies are likely at least a bit brighter, but there may be plenty of clouds as well. We’ll call it partly sunny as highs try to head back toward near 80. Confidence: Medium
