FORECAST IN DETAIL
For summer lovers, yesterday was a tough back-to-work, back-to-school and back-to-reality kind of day. Not only did rain and wet roads further slow the typically slow day-after-Labor Day morning and evening commutes. But dramatically cooler temperatures prompted some to wear a jacket for the first time in a long time. While warmer air returns today, rain chances remain on the high side into tomorrow and still linger into the weekend. Flash flooding remains a significant risk as well, especially today when torrential rain is likely.
Today (Wednesday): Heavy rains are likely today and we might see some thunder mixed in. During the afternoon, there’s the potential for a few storms to turn severe with an isolated tornado possible. Despite mostly cloudy skies, a warm front pushing through helps highs climb a good 10-15 degrees over yesterday, to the upper 70s to near 80 with high humidity. Confidence: Medium
Thundercast:

Probability: 40%
Coverage: Scattered
Most Likely Timing: Afternoon/Evening
Tonight: Shower and storm chances continue around 60-70%. The cloudy skies and muggy air stick around as well, with lows settling in the upper 60s to low 70s. Wednesday through Wednesday night rain totals probably generally range from 0.75” to 2”, with some spots capable of seeing a little less or a little more. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow (Thursday): The soggy story continues with intermittent showers likely - an overall 60% chance of rain - and maybe a thunderstorm or two. Otherwise, it’s another muggy and mostly cloudy day with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. Confidence: Medium
Tomorrow night: Cloud cover probably hangs tough and occasional showers are still possible, though rain odds do decrease some to about 40-50%. Lows in the upper 60s to low 70s. Confidence: Medium
A LOOK AHEADWith an upper-level area of low pressure still centered over the Midwest, we stay mostly cloudy here on Friday and hang on to a 30-40% chance of showers. Temperatures aren’t feeling too creative either, with highs back to the upper 70s to low 80s once again. Rain chances decrease Friday night and skies may even show some clearing. Confidence: Medium
At this point, it doesn’t appear we’re going to completely rid ourselves of rain chances and clouds for the weekend. But we should see some improvement compared to this work week. I think we’ll at least manage partly sunny skies, and shower/storm chances come down to near 30% with highs from near 80 to the mid-80s. Humidity should scale back a notch or two, especially Sunday, and morning lows bottom in the mid-60s to near 70. Confidence: Low-Medium
