FORECAST IN DETAIL

Welcome to November! We continue our trek into colder, darker days, and yes, gulp, the hectic holidays. But let’s take just one day at a time, shall we? For today, morning clouds clear out in time for some midday and afternoon sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures. That sun dominates tomorrow and Thursday too before a weak weather system skims our area Friday with clouds and marginal shower chances. The weekend still looks good, but Saturday could lean to the cold side.

Today (Tuesday): Low pressure passes well to our south and east early this morning. We get the outer edge cloudiness through the morning hours, but we should see partial clearing by late morning and mostly sunny skies by midday and afternoon. Slightly warmer temperatures today with mid-to-upper 50s. Winds are from the north at just 5 to 10 mph. Confidence: High

Tonight: Mostly clear skies and mostly calm winds mean that temperatures should drop quite a bit. Lows drop to or just below freezing in the outer suburbs with mid-to-upper 30s closer in towards the city. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Wednesday): We continue to gradually build some warmer conditions with more upper 50s around the area with maybe a few spots touching 60. Mostly sunny skies make this a pleasant day as high pressure slowly works across our area. Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: Partly cloudy and not as cold, but this is still coat-weather as lows reach down to the mid-to-upper 30s in the outer ‘burbs and hold in the low-to-mid 40s in the city. Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

Thursday is the warmest day of this week with partly to mostly sunny skies, light winds from the south, and highs in the low-to-mid 60s. By Thursday night, skies get more cloudy as a low pressure aims to pass by to our south. Lows should hold in the 40s, and we have a 30% chance of a late night shower. Confidence: Medium-High

Friday keeps the cloud canopy overhead with cooler temperatures and a 30% chance of morning showers. The weather guidance has fluctuated on the track of the low pressure area, so we could avoid rain completely, but probably won’t avoid the clouds. Cooler highs in the upper 50s to low 60s are expected. Friday night should see partial clearing with lows ranging from the lower 30s to the lower 40s (suburb-to-city). Confidence: Low-Medium

The weekend is looking MUCH better than last weekend with no storms expected. The only downside risk appears to be colder temperatures potentially on Saturday as a cold wind from the north dominates. We could see highs stuck down in the low-to-mid 50s despite partly sunny skies on Saturday. Lows Saturday night under partly cloudy skies should range through the 40s. By Sunday, a warmer wind direction and mostly sunny skies offer low-to-mid 60s. We’ll keep an eye on it, but Sunday is looking quite fine right now for November standards. Confidence: Low-Medium
