FORECAST IN DETAIL

A picture-perfect end to the weekend just ain’t in the cards, but we’ll make do with a decent Sunday despite pesky clouds. Easterly flow off the ocean means plenty of clouds and cooler weather through tomorrow. As we get into midweek, temperatures should warm a bit, while at the same time a frontal system adds the threat of showers and storms to the forecast. Bottom line, don’t expect to work on your tan the next few days.

Today (Sunday): Much like earlier this week, weak flow off the ocean once again brings trouble to the forecast in the form of cloudiness. We’re unlikely to break out into full sunshine, and may even see patchy morning drizzle or fog along with the chance of a sprinkle at some point during the day. But we might also see a few minutes of brightness from time to time, especially in the afternoon. Clouds keep temperatures in check with highs in the upper 60s to near 70. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: With a little less moisture in the air, our overnight tonight is a little less muggy than recent nights. We’re still dealing with a good bit of cloudiness, but should manage to cool off to lows in the low-to-mid 50s. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Monday): Heading back to work, it may feel like deja vu as we’re likely to wake up to mostly cloudy skies once again. Like today, the clouds aren’t anxious to go anywhere, though some brief periods of sun are possible during the afternoon. Watch out to the west for a slight chance for showers. Afternoon highs top out in the upper 60s to near 70. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: With a frontal system approaching from the west, we can expect mostly cloudy skies and a 20% chance of showers in the area toward daybreak. Overnight lows dip to the mid-to-upper 50s. Confidence: Medium

A LOOK AHEAD

On Tuesday, it looks like an approaching cold front gets a little hung up to our west. That would keep any rain to our north and west for most of the day, and allow highs to climb well into the 70s before the risk of showers and thunderstorms increases toward evening. If the front closes in faster than currently expected, then we’d be cooler with rain chances increasing earlier in the day. Confidence:Low-Medium

Tuesday night, the chance of showers and thunderstorms increases to 60-70%. Skies are mostly cloudy, with rather mild lows in the low-to-mid 60s. Confidence: Medium

The front makes very little headway by Wednesday, keeping the chance for showers and storms in the forecast with highs in the 70s. Confidence: Low-Medium
