Grumpy-inducing BROILING heat. Not quite as bad as last Friday, so I’m giving it one extra point. Ha!

FORECAST IN DETAIL

Mother Nature has dusted off the broiler she used on us last week! Today’s Heat Advisory covers our heat criteria up-to about 110 degrees, but, thankfully, we won’t have the 115-120F+ head indices we saw last week under the “Excessive Heat Warning”. Get out those bathing suits, I suppose?? Looks very warm though the beginning of next week, at least... If not longer. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a cool-air intrusion!

Today (Friday): Lots of hot sunshine, especially in comparison to yesterday. That pesky summertime high pressure will bake us with steamy winds from the southwest, boosting high temps to around 100 degrees. We’ve got an above-average chance to break records in the upper 90s for the date, perhaps a couple spots even soaring well into the low 100s. As far as dew point temperatures giving us a read-out on how much water vapor is in the atmosphere? The readings look to stay mostly near the 70 degree marker – which feels very uncomfortable. Need afternoon rain relief? Regrettably, only a 10-20% chance of that happening. . Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: A substantial number of clouds, with perhaps the slightest of shower chances. Plan on near-record low temperatures in the lower 80s downtown, perhaps upper 70s in the lucky “cold” spots? Confidence: Medium

Keep reading for the forecast through the beginning of next week...

Tomorrow (Saturday): Woohoo! Only mid-90s! Those muggy, high dew points keep that uncomfortable high humidity wrapped around us. Skies may not be as bright as Friday, with a moist atmosphere brewing up a chance (20-25%) of a thundershower or storm. South of town actually has a better chance at seeing rain relief. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Just a few clouds around, any showers should have dissipated. But it looks still to be muggy. Though, cooler low temperatures in the 70s! Perhaps near or at 80 downtown for a low though, sorry D.C. Confidence: Medium-High

Sunday: Ready to see just how acclimated you have gotten to the heat? Low (maybe some middle) 90s, and the slightest reduction in muggy air (vs. Saturday), may feel solidly acceptable. Just wait. The day’s daily digit may even go above 5! The sun will still be out and ready to heat/burn you up! Confidence: Medium

A LOOK AHEAD

Sunday night: My stars! Below 80 for everyone? And yes, a few stars should be visible, as clouds stay few & far between overnight. Low temperatures probably reach the 70 degree mark in spots like Frederick & Winchester, to around 76-78 downtown. . Confidence: Medium

Monday and Tuesday feature, no surprise, readings most likely in the 90s. Monday might actually be a few degrees warmer than Tuesday though, but generally in the low-to-mid 90s. I guess I could call dew points in the 60s tolerable? The sun may have little to prevent it from beating down mercilessly upon us. Keep hydrating carefully and using that sunscreen (my usual summer reminders, haha!). Confidence: Medium
