Before heat builds into next week, we have a slight reprieve from hot conditions plaguing us lately in the form of needed rain. Yet today may be too much of a good thing for some. Be mindful of roadways and sidewalks when driving and walking in any local downpours. They might not move fast and could dump a lot of water in a short period of time. This weekend we dry out for the most part, but that leads to another potential heat wave next week.
Today (Friday): It could be pretty wet, especially late in the day. Storms that form probably sit for a bit and dump moderate to heavy rain. This front draped over us isn’t moving quickly and keeps skies very cloudy. While storms — potentially severe — could soak many of you, don’t be shocked if your locale doesn’t get much or anything. This may not be a solid and cohesive shield of rain, so ranges in local totals could be zero up to 2” or even more. This level of rain in a short period can produce quickly rising water, so please drive safely. Despite all this cloudy, potentially wet unsettled weather, we will still feel a bit sticky with temperatures in the mid-to-upper 80s. Confidence: Low-Medium
Tonight: The threat of storms, and their downpours, probably continues into the night as the front slowly sags south. Storms may head eastward as the night wears on, toward the Bay & Ocean, so watch out if venturing that way! Finally before dawn, most activity should be moving south and east totally. Muggy summertime lows prevail, in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow (Saturday): Voila, sunshine re-appears! But it may add to discomfort as muggy conditions remain about, well, standardly-sticky for July. High temperatures should at least get into the upper 80s but uncomfortable lower 90s appear possible. Hopefully a light wind from the north or northwest keeps us somewhat refreshed. There is also a 20% chance an isolated shower or storm refreshes you as well. Confidence: Medium-High
Tomorrow night: There should be fewer clouds than recent nights. Lows likely bottom before dawn in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Pretty pleasant, for mid-summer. Confidence: High
Sunday: Lots of blue skies! But this should prompt you to lather on that sunscreen – UV is strong for many hours this time of year – 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Summer turns on the sauna, too, with highs averaging in the lower 90s. Do I even need to comment on the humidity? Didn’t think so. Confidence: Medium-High
Sunday night: Mostly clear again but continued, uh, warm. So much for “low” temperatures, in upper 60s to lower 70s. Confidence: Medium-HighA LOOK AHEAD
On Monday it’s mainly sunny so avoid UV by staying indoors, right? Enjoy the office A/C and stay sweat-free from even higher dew points (making it feel extra muggy). Highs – oooof – in the low-to-mid 90s. Oh and there is a classic summertime chance (10-20%) of an afternoon thundershower, but I’d lean against it on a day like this. Confidence: Medium
It’s looking very muggy and perhaps a bit wetter for Tuesday. A 30-40% chance of more scattered showers and thunderstorms keep us moist and, well, uncomfortable. Highs should again head into the low 90s, perhaps higher with more sun, and heat indices higher. Take it easy! Confidence: Low-Medium
