FORECAST IN DETAIL

Remember that big upper-level low that plagued our weather for what seemed like forever? We’ve got another one (or, sorta the same one), but this time basically right overhead. That means plenty of cool air at the surface and above, so lots of clouds and showers for the next few days. It’s also going to be a bit breezy. Once we hit “the bright side,” as the low moves out early week, some sweet weather should follow. I know I’ll be yearning for that.

Today (Saturday): It’s mostly cloudy, breezy and maybe “too much, too soon” for cool air. A slight risk for showers near sunrise should lead to more widespread activity (60%-70% chance) by midday or afternoon, though those times should feature breaks as well. We’re probably not talking a ton of rain area wide, but some spots could see more soaked soil. Temperatures? Brr. They may not rise much. Mid-50s to near 60 if we’re lucky -- normal, for mid-November. Breezes from the northwest up to about 15 mph with higher gusts add a “wind chill” as well! Confidence: Medium

Tonight: Showers could continue into the night but they should wane as time wears on. It remains mostly cloudy, perhaps a bit clearer at times by morning. Temperatures reach the low 40s in the coolest spots while staying “up” in the mid-or-upper 40s for the warmest. Wind may actually increase a little, particularly early in the night, up to 10-20 mph with gusts near 30 mph. Confidence: Low-Medium

Keep reading for the forecast through the beginning of next week...

Tomorrow (Sunday): We could see some sunshine, but any sun helps create more clouds thanks to very cold air aloft. The odds of rain are down a bit -- a 40% chance of occasional showers, with the highest concentration probably over northern parts of the area. Highs in the mid-50s to near 60 are accompanied by a pretty good breeze from the northwest, still around 10-15 mph. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow night: It’s mostly cloudy again, maybe partly cloudy if we’re lucky. Shower chances are quite low after the sun sets but a sprinkle might just find you. It’s probably at least as chilly as Saturday night, and maybe slightly chillier because of less mixing of the air by wind. Those winds? They fall to around 5 mph or so. Confidence: Medium

A LOOK AHEAD

The upper-low might begin to head northeast on Monday, but perhaps not enough to keep us from seeing yet another mostly cloudy one. Odds of a few showers should be relatively low, or about 30%. High temperatures look to range from near 60 to the mid-60s. Confidence: Low-Medium

By Tuesday, the storm system should be well to the northeast, leaving us with partly to mostly sunny skies. I’m not terribly confident the storm won’t try to sit around a little longer though, so this forecast might be precarious. If things work out, temperatures should shoot for the mid-60s to near 70. Confidence: Low-Medium
