Are those pleasant days of this past week fading into memory yet? At least some rain has fallen. Easing back into the region this weekend, really starting today, will be our typical summer mugginess and heat. We do have our share of clouds and perhaps some thunderstorms to deal with, but still try to get outside. Dad’s day may involve dodging some rain; however, the silver lining is that our dry gardens could get another chance for a drink!
Today (Friday): Partly sunny during the morning but developing clouds illustrate we still have a generally unstable atmosphere overhead. Good news for those wanting or needing rain, Especially east of D.C .where the rain may focus. Starting in the midday hours, showers and and storms may pop and probably become more widespread (50%) into afternoon. Mid-80s are probable. But there is a chance sunshine, and a late-day west wind, pops us into the upper 80s. Confidence: Low-MediumThundercast:
Coverage: Scattered; half of us could get wet
Most Likely Timing: 11:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
Tonight: Decreasing clouds and a decreasing (30% & dropping) chance of thundershowers as we head into the evening. Skies should substantially clear by midnight. Lows downtown should be a good 5+ degrees warmer than locales outside the Beltway, but all of us in the 60s it looks like.

Tomorrow (Saturday): Mostly sunny and somewhat sweaty. Highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s look probable, accompanied by moderately high humidity levels. Enjoy being outdoors today, especially before late afternoon when temperatures peak and a slight thunderstorm (20%) chance enters the picture. While being outdoors, keep in mind the sun will be highest in the sky at 1:10 p.m. and UV will be extremely high. SPF 50+ is recommended. Confidence: Medium
Tomorrow night: Continued 20-30% chance of an evening shower or storm; otherwise, mostly cloudy and summery for most of the night. There are indications a complex of showers and storms may move toward us late night into morning. Muggy low temperatures maintain the lower 70s downtown, and upper 60s elsewhere. Confidence: Medium
Father’s Day (Sunday): After any early storm risk, it’s partly sunny and a bit murky. Summer is in full swing for Dad today — high temperatures around 90. We may get cooled off with a 30-40% chance of later afternoon showers and thunderstorms, courtesy of a boundary over the region. Seek shelter if you run into any rumbles or see lightning. Confidence: Low-MediumA LOOK AHEAD
Sunday night, we may see lots of clouds and muggy conditions. Though we should have low risks of rain much of the night, we’ll have to watch potential storminess from the west heading into morning. Low temperatures stay high, again in the range of upper 60s to lower 70s. Confidence :Low-Medium
Monday brings a mix of sun and clouds after any morning rain or storm threat — not to mention mugginess. High temperatures again shoot for 90 or so, though the heat ridge wants to flex a bit into the week so maybe warmer? Confidence: Low-Medium
Tuesday we have the summer solstice! Welcome to astronomical summer here in D.C. and 16 hours’ length of day. Enjoy. As summer should be, it’s partly sunny with a chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Probably highs around 90 to the low 90s. Confidence: Low
