TODAY'S DAILY DIGIT
A somewhat subjective rating of the day’s weather, on a scale of 0 to 10
Sprinkles in the morning give way to twinkles of sunshine off the Potomac. Just don’t go out until afternoon and you got yourself a 10! Get the Digit on Twitter| Discuss on Facebook
While today is going to turn out just fine, tomorrow should be the star with my bet that a 10 makes the digit. Even Saturday should hang in there for a while but then it is all downhill. Showers and cooler temperatures dominate from Saturday evening through Monday morning. However, as a garden enthusiast, I fear that the really needed rains may yet again sneak off to our south and east. This is one time I really hope I am wrong.
Today (Thursday): Early commuters be careful as roads may still be slick from a dawn shower or two. The rain (20% chance) is quickly out of the area but clouds linger through the morning. The sun works steadily to peel away the clouds and should succeed by early to mid-afternoon. Breezes are minimal and highs reach the upper 60s to lower 70s. Confidence: Medium
Tonight: This is a good evening to get a last glimpe of Jupiter setting soon after the sun. Readings hold in the 60s but then drop to the upper 40s to lower 50s due to a cloudless night and quite dry air. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Friday): Try to find any excuse possible to get outdoors. Your reward is highs in the low-to-mid 70s under blue skies with just a few clouds drifting through. There is just enough of a breeze from the south to keep the sun from becoming too warm. Confidence: High
Tomorrow night: The evening is sublime with readings leisurely slipping through the 60s. Mostly clear skies and light breezes continue. Lows hold in the mid-to-upper 50s. Confidence: HighA LOOK AHEAD
Saturday tries its best to give us a decent morning but clouds are likely to be rolling in early. Showers and a few widely scattered thundershowers should quickly sweep into the area by afternoon (70% chance). Severe storms are unlikely but do check the blog to be sure. Rain amounts could be up to a half inch in some lucky spots. Highs should spike early in the day before the showers hit with low-to-mid 70s likely. The showers could actually taper off by evening and allow for a decent night out, but an umbrella is still a good idea. Cooler air comes barging in on strong winds out of the north. Lows drop to the low-to-mid 50s. Confidence: Medium-High
Sunday has a chill as clouds are thick and occasional showers scatter across the area (70% chance). However, what once looked like a real drencher looks more like a dribbler as the main storm slips offshore. That is bad news for the gardens. Highs only reach the upper 50s to lower 60s. The evening is windy and cooler as winds from the north pick up noticeably. Lows tumble to the mid-to-upper 40s. Confidence: Low-Medium
Monday has the makings of a nasty day with cloudy, damp conditions and a possible morning shower (40% chance). Brisk winds out of the north and highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s are bracing. Confidence: Low-Medium
