FORECAST IN DETAIL

Now this is more like it! After a chilly start to the weekend, today’s temperatures are headed in the right direction. Clear skies and a breeze from the south boost us 10-15 degrees higher than yesterday. And the warming trend continues as we head toward midweek, with only a threat of mainly light showers Monday night into Tuesday. Spring is definitely in the air, and the timing couldn’t be more perfect as we pick up an extra hour of evening daylight starting today.

Today (Sunday): Quite a warm-up from yesterday as the weekend closes on a high note. High pressure over the area means plenty of sun. And with winds from the south, our temperatures get a nice boost. Highs top out in the low-to-mid 60s! Confidence: High

Tonight: Skies should stay on the mostly clear side through evening as temperatures fall back through the 50s. Not a bad way to enjoy our first day of bonus daylight. Sunset time? 7:12 p.m. A few clouds work their way in overnight with lows in the upper 30s to mid-40s. Confidence: High

Keep reading for the forecast through midweek...

Tomorrow (Monday): Clouds are on the increase through the day as a weakening cold front approaches. But, warming winds from the south/southwest together with partial sun early are enough to bump highs to the upper 60s to low 70s. A stray light shower can’t be ruled out toward evening. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Our approaching cold front doesn’t bring much in the way of moisture, or for that matter cold air. In fact, it isn’t much of a front by the time it arrives Monday night. Still, a 20-30% chance of mainly light showers is worth mentioning. Otherwise, expect mostly cloudy skies and mild overnight lows in the low-to-mid 50s. Confidence: Medium

A LOOK AHEAD

We’re in the market for more warmth on Tuesday. We’re still looking at that 20-30% chance of mainly light showers, especially early in the day, as the front struggles through. But eventually we should see at least partial sun, with highs all the way to the mid-70s! Tuesday night, skies turn mostly clear and lows stay up again, ranging through the 50s. Confidence: Medium-High

As nice as the previous days look to be, Wednesday may end up the shining star of this forecast period. Weak high pressure should still be strong enough for mostly sunny skies. And with highs expected in the 70s once again, it’ll be hard to deny that spring has sprung. Confidence: Medium-High
