FORECAST IN DETAIL

The next three days really look fairly spectacular. May at its best? The only downside to our ever-warming conditions through Sunday will be these pesky breezes — but rest assured, they wane. By next week, we have muggy conditions return along with clouds and nuisance (not drought-alleviating) showers. Savor what comes first though, it’ll be awesome!

Today (Friday): Can I call this perfect? Chilly temperatures quickly warm toward the 70-76 degree range by late afternoon. Skies remain sunny except for a few periodic clouds. Still a bit noticeable, winds could blow from the northwest at 10-20 mph, but this keeps us sans-humidity with very low “un-muggy” dewpoints! Confidence: High

Tonight: Mostly clear skies should allow many stars to shine bright. Winds calm a bit, to the 5-10 mph range in the evening and lower overnight. Temperatures fall a good amount too, but not quite as cold as last night. I’m talking around 50 downtown, with 40s probable outside the Beltway. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Saturday): It looks to be warmer, or near 80 to the low 80s in the warm spots (especially south of town). Another nice day on tap I’d say? Who doesn’t like blue skies, lighter but refreshing breezes, and no threat of rain as it appears now (sorry gardeners). At least we can enjoy walking around the EU embassy open houses or participating in the Walk for the Animals. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: A gem of an evening, with fairly clear skies and only light southwesterly breezes. Dinnertime temperatures heading down through the 70s, eventually bottom before sunrise around the 60 degree mark downtown, but pleasant 50s for virtually everyone outside of downtown. Confidence: Medium-High

Mother’s Day (Sunday): This couldn’t be a better present to our moms (from our big Mother… Nature?). Clouds should hold off until late afternoon or evening, with only a very remote chance of a shower late. Given that the day should be very sunny on-the-whole, temperatures should be able to rise to near and above 80 once again. Earlier appearances of clouds would keep temperatures at the lower end of that range. Confidence: Medium

A LOOK AHEAD

Sunday night: Clouds make their move into the region and threaten a 30-40% chance of dropping a few showers. Low temperatures stay fairly mild and uniform, thanks to said clouds. Lows reach the upper 50s to around 60, as it appears right now. Confidence: Low-Medium

Monday may continue with clouds and showers (40-50% chance). High temperatures still manage to get into the 70s, at least! Just a warning it may start feeling a bit muggy, and you may still have to water the garden. Confidence: Low-Medium

Tuesday tries to copy Monday with its clouds and showers (same 40-50% chance) and just adds-in a rumble or two of thunder. Muggy high temperatures still should get into the mild 70s again, but may hold around 70 if overcast skies hang tough and rain is at all plentiful. Confidence: Low
