Forecast: Wall to wall sunshine and not a hint of humidity

Today's Daily Digit
A somewhat subjective rating of the
day's weather, on a scale of 0 to 10.

My only hesitation in giving today a 10 is that it means tomorrow will have to be a 10.5!

There is nothing to say about the next five days except payback is a beautiful thing. Given our penchant for weather systems to park over us for long periods of time, I am happy to report that this time high pressure will produce a string of super days. This is a great chance for getting outdoor work done and an even better time to just get out and enjoy. For those of you with the Monday holiday, I am jealous!

Today (Thursday): Despite the brisk start to the day, this is a keeper. Bright sunshine and crisp dry air warm up nicely topping out around 70. The breeze coming from the north is barely noticeable. Confidence: High

Tonight: Dryness under the high pressure allows temperatures to drop off quickly in the evening with upper 50s to lower 60s, so bring the jacket. Calm winds are the rule. Overnight lows drop off to the lower 40s suburbs to upper 40s downtown. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Friday): Oh my this is nice! Not a cloud to be had and just a tad warmer than the day before. Occasional light breezes blow from the east. Highs reach the mid-70s. Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: The outdoor cafes will be busy this evening with readings in the 60s and nary a breeze. Starry skies and a waxing moon are a nice backdrop. Lows still have a bite to them as they reach the mid-40s outside the beltway and lower 50s in the city. Confidence: High

Saturday is a keeper too as temperatures race upward at a better clip. Most areas will make upper 70s for highs and one of our warm spots might even hit 80. Don’t worry though, this is a dry heat! The evening is nice enough that you should be out anyway. If we get lucky, some of the Draconid meteor shower may still be going on just as it gets dark out. With 750 meteors per hour, it could be spectacular but the problem is that it will almost be over. Lows should drop to the mid-40s burbs and lower 50s city. Confidence: High

Sunday is more of the same. Blue skies and dry air with minimal breezes. Highs top out in the upper 70s to near 80. The moon rises nearly full in the evening and readings are still in the upper 60s to lower 70s so get out and enjoy. Lows range through the 50s. Confidence: High

Columbus Day (Monday) makes it three in a row with sunshine galore, dry air, calm winds and delightful warmth. Highs again reach the upper 70s to near 80. Confidence: High
