FORECAST IN DETAIL

Our super-warm pattern continues through the balance of this week with both highs and lows running around 15-20 degrees warmer-than-normal. This impressive situation is only muted by some light easterly breezes that keep cloud cover around, especially through mid-week during the morning hours. The easterly flow fades by Thursday and Friday, allowing for more sunshine and warmer afternoon temperatures (upper 70s to low 80s!). But wet weather, at times, may unfold this weekend.

Today (Tuesday): Happy first day of spring! Clouds greet us again today with maybe some patchy morning fog. Sunshine should break through at times toward midday and afternoon, but a light wind from the east keeps that slight damp feel to the air. Highs continue to be very warm for late March with upper 60s to mid 70s in most areas- but cooler again toward the western shores of the bay. A slight chance of a light shower (20%) exists. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Clouds loom overnight with lows from the low to mainly mid- or upper 50s. Winds light from the east. Confidence: Medium-High

Keep reading for the forecast through the weekend...

Tomorrow (Wednesday): Look for similar weather conditions with morning clouds (patchy fog spots) and afternoon mixed skies. Temperatures could be a little warmer with most areas ranging through the low-to-mid 70s (cooler toward the western bay shores again). Winds are light from the east and southeast. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Partly cloudy and mild with lows ranging through the 50s. Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

Thursday turns the corner with more especially midday and afternoon sunshine as our wind flow shifts to come more from the south. The warmer breezes and increased solar input allows our temperatures to push higher toward the upper 70s with a few spots cresting the 80-degree mark again. Partly cloudy skies on Thursday night with lows ranging again through the mild 50s. Confidence: Medium

Friday is aiming to be the best day of our week with mostly sunny skies, light breezes from the south and southwest, and temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s. (No repeat risk of record-breaking temperatures though as the record high for this day is 93!). Friday night sees increasing clouds with lows in the 50s. Confidence: Low-Medium

The weekend is trending in the gloomy direction with mostly cloudy skies both days and rain at times favored. Highs should be in the mid-to-upper 60s with lows in the 50s during this damp weather. Much will depend on the track and timing of an upper level low edging into our area, but as of this time, the wettest risks look to be from Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning. We’ll keep confidence on the low side though as these details get fine-tuned when we get closer. We need the rain, but the timing could be better! Confidence: Low
