Glorious fall weekend inspires brilliant foliage photography around Washington, D.C.

After Snowtober the weekend before, this past weekend’s extended dose of sunshine was a worthwhile tradeoff.

On the Saturday, the airmass was crisp, with highs only managing the low 50s. But by Sunday, most spots climbed up to near 60.

The weekend’s crystal blue skies contrasted stunningly with foliage near its peak in many parts of the Washington, D.C. metro region.

What follows is a collection of some of my favorite images received via Facebook, Twitter and email. Thanks to all of you who sent in pics.
