Austin told me the geese were slow to arrive in the region this winter, but have now emerged in Maryland. The action is in Delaware, though.
“... the concentration in Delaware has been unreal,” Austin wrote in an email. “There is a flock estimated at 150,000 birds at Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge in Sussex Co. near Milton and Rehoboth Beach.”
Snow geese breed in the high latitudes towards the Arctic, but winter in parts of the U.S., including the mid-Atlantic.
