Photo and video: Lightning streaks across double rainbow in Fairfax, Va.

A lightning bolts intersects a double rainbow in Fairfax Monday. What does it mean?

Thunderstorms early Monday evening moved to the east, north, and south of Fairfax, Virginia, dropping very little rain in central Fairfax County but producing a very nice combined rainbow and light show in the sky. I photographed and ran video from Reston and Fairfax Town Center with two cameras. My goal was to capture daytime lightning and time lapse videos.

Above and below are my YouTube videos showing rainbows, lightning, and lightning with rainbows, all associated with the thunderstorms of August 1, 2011. Farther down in the post I have included a few of the lightning and rainbow still photos.

Keep reading for more photos and video from the storms.
